Worshipping through singing it often left out of Children's Sunday School - either because of time constraints or the discomfort of the teacher.
If the children get to be a part of the adult service and are getting to experience worship through singing, then you might use your time with these kids in other ways. If the kids are not a part of corporate worship at all, then prayerfully consider whether to take the time to praise God through song so your students get to experience that and see it modeled.
Leading Students in Worship When You are a Terrible Singer
If you are uncomfortable singing in public, there are plenty of resources around that can help you. However, think about how much the students will benefit by hearing somebody praise God with an imperfect voice. What a great reminder that God cares more about the heart than a good appearance!
You can use things like worship CDs, YouTube, or Spotify to help you in your singing. Simply choose a song before your lesson (making sure there are no video ads if you are using something like YouTube) and play it for your kids while you sing along (and encourage them to sing along as well).
Choosing Songs for Sunday School Worship
Be prayerful in your choice of songs, thinking about what the words to the songs are teaching your students. Are the words praising God? Will singing these songs help kids to better understand the greatness of our God and what He has done for us? Choosing songs that have scripture set to them is especially beneficial to kids, as it will help them be able to memorize Scripture.
This is also a great time to discuss the lyrics of different songs with kids, and to teach them why singing songs of praise is part of our worship time.
